The investigations began to KEEP him from winning. Had she won, then NONE of this would have seen the light of day. It would have been business as usual and God only knows what state secrets Hillary would have sold and for how much.

After Trump won, it became paramount to try to discredit him in any way possible and make sure he never caught on to their illegal spying. Flynn became the focus, because as both an Obama staffer and intelligence official, he knew way too much and was the one man they felt who could bring them down. They felt they could harass him to the point of breaking. They nearly pulled if off.

This entire episode is worse than Watergate and Iran-Contra combined.
