Do you have to pay a penalty if your sticker falls off before your renewal date?

I doubt a cop would write you a ticket if you had the defective sticker. You can just tape it on though.
Inspection sticker tickets are kind of random anyway. I've had an expired one for 2-3 years before and never gotten pulled over.
