If not for the incredibly large welfare state, a huge share of immigrants that are coming here wouldn't bother.
And of the immigrants that would come here, they wouldn't be here for the handouts. They would be here to work hard to make their lives better. Much like the Europeans and Asians that came before our current welfare state. On the taking muh jerbs front, do you think any American is going to work picking strawberries? Is picking strawberries worth $15 per hour to an employer?
Don't get me started on minimum wage either:
