A Christmas Story

That was definitely a real billboard. It was right on I-20 in Monroe. My family and I went to Tupelo, Miss. at Christmas to spend time with family. On our way to minden from there, we had a great experience. It was the day before the annual Independence/Alabama Bowl in Shreveport. When we got on I-20 in Jackson, we joined a river of Bama vehicles headed west. When we got to Monroe, traffic stalled to a crawl. I figured it was a wreck, but it was all the Bama folks looking at this billboard. We stopped at the new Academy Sports - it had been open less than a week - and there were signs on every door proclaiming that LSU National Championship merchandise would go on sale 1 minute after the NT game was completed. I ran into some Bama people in the store who were fuming mad at both the billboard and the assumption by Academy that LSU would beat the Buckeyes. Of course, I was wearing some LSU stuff, and one of the Bama fans came up to me and said that we had no class and that Bama would never do anything like that had the tables been turned. I told him he had to be kidding. He said "wait till we come to that stinkhole of a stadium in Baton Rouge next year".
You know there's that thing in politics that says that if your opponent is destroying himself, you should just stand back and watch? That's just what I did in that store. And as this guy kept ranting (I swear I thought he was going to burst a blood vessel) some more Tiger fans came over and began to give him the Tiger Bait. Now I know not all Bama fans are jerks like this guy, but that's the most fun I had the whole Christmas holiday!
its extasy when you're next ta me

weren't the Bama fans slowing down because they always have trouble getting past Monroe?
