I have both. SNS only leaves my grill if I’m doing chicken wings then I use my vortex. I like having both, but the vortex is a one trick pony to me, but it does that one thing extremely well.

I haven't really done much smoking on a kettle, but can't you achieve the same thing just banking the coals along the side and maybe a couple cheap fire bricks if needed?
