They may as well ditch it entirely and go full electric. Most of their gasoline engines are old enough to drink.

Yep.

My wife's QX60 has one. Had the shudder but got the fix and it's been fine. Just don't like the non-shift and somewhat lazy low end acceleration.

My Q50 has a regular transmission (7 speed) that is almost as smooth as the CVT (you can barely feel the shifts unless you are laying on the throttle).

As for the more general point, I hope to Hell NOT they pull the brand. Damned fine vehicles that have held up well and are far less expensive to maintain than European brands and as (if not more) reliable as the Japanese badges.

To say they had some issues with it is certainly an understatement!
