I try not to go down the ugly road of comparison as it leads to anxiety. Instead choose to interrupt that anxiety with gratitude and service to others.

So true. It also leads to bitterness QUICK when you are in a rough season of life.
The past couple years for me have been pretty shitty and seem even more so when I start to compare my situation to others. Very easy to go down the road of bitterness and being angry that others seem to have endless happy moments on their side when bad thing after bad thing after bad thing keeps happening to me(many of which are things I have absolutely NO control over and were not of any fault of mine).
Instead, I really try to focus on the blessings I DO have (which still are there, maybe less easier to see sometimes from the stain of the bad). I've also accepted that sometimes life hands you a shitty season and all you can do is take it day by day and maintain hope that one day things will get better. And that the bad will just make you savor the good even more when it does happen.

Much of human emotional suffering could be eliminated. We are unique, but spend most of our lives desperately trying to look, feel, like others.
A good portion of the economy depends on the insecurity of individuals.
