Their phone number is no longer a working number...sad that it bit the dust...I worked at Money Hill for 7 years until 2016, but I always liked Abita better .the casual atmosphere of the place, heavier woodsiness and seclusion of it..not lined with homes all over the course..friendly people.. ....old style. Felt like I was at Augusta surrounded by trees and ponds. .loved the sound of the wind whispering in the pines in late fall and early winter..lot of nature, hawks, etc...if you hit your ball in the woods, you'd typically find 5-10 other balls off the side to replace it..every time I finished a round, i had more golf balls than I started with..the scorecard said "no looking for balls in the woods" but as long as you didn't have anyone right behind you,it was never a problem..they didn't 'police' the place...

I grew up in 225 and moved to Texas almost 4 years ago and have never played there, but regretting that decision now. Hope wasn't triggered by anything pandemic-related.

Not pandemic related at all. Place was on a gradual decline for years.

Loved Abita Golf Club. It’s was very underrated. Beautiful course for what it was. Really hoping someone buys it and gets it back up and running. That property has a lot of potential. I believe it was in October, last time I played there I heard the owner talking about moving out of town and selling it. Sucks.

My dad and I played that course alot. My one and only ace was on #13 there. Haven't been in a couple years side my dad passed but I was hoping to bring my 5 year old there one day to play with me. I'll miss that place alot. Lots of good memories with my dad there. Always loved 17 & 18. Both straight & short par 4s that I would swing for the fences for off the tee to try and drive the greens

I use to place that a lot. Finished second in my flight in a tournament there back in the 90s

Wanted to bump this thread and see if anyone heard anything new on abita. Rumor is the place was bought and improvements made, but that’s only a rumor.

I heard the Zeigler tree people bought it but I don’t think that is the case. I drove into the little community to see some of the holes. The ones by the clubhouse seem to have been cut but the driving range looks like a hay field.

I heard that it was bought and going to be remodeled. No clue if that is true or not. Just blindly hoping it is
