Why are Meth Heads at the Gas Station so needy?

Is it because they need to buy food or more cigarettes? One dude on meth just asked me if I could buy a him Monster Energy Drink. Doesn’t sound like a very healthy lifestyle.

i just need 50c to get gas so i can get to my job. see, i conveniently ran out of gas right here in the gas station parking lot.
