4runners are incredibly overpriced. Extremely reliable.
If you plan to keep the vehicle for 10 years.. sure.
If you plan to wheel it? Sure..
If not, go Jeep Grand Cherokee, keep it for four years then dump it

4runners are not cheap, but they arent overpriced. They hold value extremely well, so you will be getting some of that initial cost back compared to a similarly priced jeep.

Are they?
The only thing I'd say is that JGC's have better interiors and that 4Runner interiors look like they're made to appeal to teenagers
