The best thing about this show was some of the early-ish calls on some of today's biggest "issues", and how they called it out for what it was.

The player that beat the shite out of the Caster kid pulled the fake race card, but was eventually kicked off the team for lying. Later in S1 the assistant coach gave an interview that the reporter baited him on and then spun it as racist.

It was a hit in Britain and they wouldn't know H.S. football from a hole in the ground.

NBC marketed the show poorly in the US, focusing on the football aspect.

Instead of just the teen drama.

It became a hit in countries that just approached it that way...and still was a popular show in the US but it should've been bigger. NBC dropped the ball.
