There's a lot of the Who Dat Nation in Northwest Florida.
Once those fricking people (including Mobilians) came to understand that the only thing that makes South Louisiana at all interesting is New Orleans and it's easy attitudes about drinking and partying. They'd build a fricking wall to keep us out.
These people aren't getting into a cultural and political gutter simply because New Orleans doesn't have a last call. And make no mistake about it, from a regional tourism aspect, New Orleans doesn't bring anything else to the table. People along the coast drive here so they can get fricked up without being fricked with and that's pretty much it.

If not for the 1717 Hurricane
The capital of Louisiana would have stayed on Dauphin Island and not moved to New Orleans.
The hurricane was so bad it split the Island in half and made Petti Bois which is in Mississippi now
