I agree with that article, except for the part at the end where it suggested that IF he had been banging his head against the chain of command he may have been justified. (To be fair -the article does not imply that he had been doing that).
Assume for a second the guy did the "right thing" by his sailors. The removal would have still been necessary.
Just one of those things that seems pretty obvious- preserving military discipline is necessary and preserves lives.
