They wear mask in public which helps decrease the spread of the virus, by the barrier of the mask. Probably something NY and NO should do.

Someone had also posted that shaking hands isn't really a thing there. That alone being a cultural norm would certainly help mitigate the spread.

They're also set up to handle something like this because they had SARS and because flu outbreaks usually start in Southeast Asia.
