Hello Tech Board,

I am sure you have been flooded with new posts from people working at home for the first time and I am so sorry, but this post is basically no different. So please forgive my ignorance as I am sure what I am asking is common knowledge.

So..

I work in Finance and have to work on a lot of excel spreadsheets, power point presentations all that "FinBro" crap that everyone makes fun of. Thing is, we run everything through Citrix, so I dont need any of that on my actual desktop. I was in the process of starting to build an extremely modest gaming PC, one that can run games off of STEAM and call of duty, thats about it.

So, I know I can run citrix well enough off of a PC because I use an ancient DELL laptop and it works fine, but I cant play any games on it. my question is, would a MAC Mini be able to support my limited gaming habits and be able to fully support my work needs?

I have my LG ultra wide monitor ariving tomorrow, and for the time being ill just use my laptop to run everything for work until i pull the trigger on a new computer. But do you recommend a full on PC build? or would a Mac Mini be enough for what I need? Also, would an older model Mac Mini work just fine? My BDA is only $1,000 between a desk, monitor and computer, I am trying to save where I can. If an older model Mac Mini would work which one?

TLDR: Ultra Wide monitor coming for work using with Citrix and Bloomberg. Would love a computer that can run that as well as some games (specifically Call Of Duty and a few steam games) can a Mac Mini do it?

I think a mac mini would be ok for your work needs, but very inadequate for gaming. Even for low-end games. I'd probably save the money you'd spend on a mac mini and just build the desktop you want.
