I did my residency at uab and was single at the time so had a condo in the med district. Was great for convenience to work and going out.
Ended up coming back for work after finishing training in Nola, and we live in homewood. Like the rest have posted, great location for pretty much everything, solid food and bar scene.
I was here from 07-10 then came back in 2013 and honestly this city has grown sig in just the decade or so since I originally left and couldn’t really imagine moving back to La!
Welcome to bham!

That's how I feel about downtown. I had audit clients downtown, and we never looked forward to those. Limited lunch options and you didn't like working late and leaving after dark. I took a job downtown 8 years ago, and it has grown so much in that time. I jog at Railroad park and saw the baseball stadium being built. Breweries popped up. Pizitz food hall opened. 20th street blew up with good restaurants. It is nice now, and I regret I'm having to work from home.
