i have helped build a family camp in venice, and later a friend's camp in east pointe a la hache. have spend plenty of time in both locations.
no matter the location you may decide upon, unless you have the time to go twice per month (IE wife/kids enjoy going with you) or more, rent a place when you do go.

Yeah I’d do GI over Venice for this reason alone. There is nothing in Venice but fishing.
