My wife was a kid, and saw Jimi Hendrix open for the Monkees.

Black Crowes (opening for Aerosmith in 1989)
Cheap Trick (opening for .38 Special in 1987)
Blues Traveler (opening for the Allman Brothers in 1992)
Jimmie Vaughan (opening for Eric Clapton in 1995)
Fabulous Thunderbirds (opening for Joe Walsh in 1994 or 1995, it was sometime during Desert Storm, show was on the parade grounds of Ft. Riley)
Blue Oyster Cult (opening for Kansas in 1996)
Cheap Trick (opening for .38 Special in 1987)

In the early 80’s Stevie Ray Vaughn opened for The Moody Blues...contrast in style to say the least. One of them admitted in a later interview that he blew them off the stage.
