I did the Mr cool DIY mini split over one weekend with my dad two springs ago. House had a carport converted into a bonus room but no AC. Space was large for a window unit and only place we could put one would face the street and I’m not trashy.
Hardest part was bending the copper lines, flaring the copper lines, and torquing the nuts at the connections. Other than that it was a breeze. I did have a friend who works in the business stop by and check connections before firing it up.
Power is another issue you’ll have to run a new circuit to the panel with a AC disconnect, but we both have electrical experience.
I wouldn’t go in as a novice but if you have help and a few days and take your time it can be done right without too much headache. No idea on the lifespan as we sold the house this past winter. It was still working great then.
