Probably a poorly phrased OP I'll admit that

I'm just trying to gauge what is more important to people. Their own personal ethics or the law.

I'll never get the idea that people must be punished for something just because it's the law. Like I said there are plenty of laws that we selectively don't enforce.

The abortion thing was more of an example of something that is legal that a lot of people disagree with
