I remember 12 straight days of parades in Metairie. Some of them were absolutely terrible (I'm looking at you, Diana) but we still went to every parade.
Sundays were a day/night doubleheader. Would be about three-four hours between the first one ending and the second one beginning. We would all walk down to Panchos or O'Henrys and eat, then walk back. Sometimes, the police would keep Veterans closed between parades, and a strong game of football would break out.
