How many times has Clancy used aenathesia trick?

I only read his Jack Ryan books, and it has been over 20 years, but I only recall a scene where in a Russian agent was traumatically knocked out, and then spoken to in Russian as he came out of it in order to determine his nationality. When he responded in Russian, he was shot before completely regaining consciousness. That was in Patriot games, as I recall.

Using a Deus Ex Machina too often gets tedious, and I do not recall him copping out like that in meaningful ways. Am I missing some?
