In an unexpected move, Fox Sports South is parting ways with popular sideline reporter Kelsey Wingert, multiple sources told The Athletic.

The timing of the decision is unusual, given that spring training is already underway and Braves president and CEO Derek Schiller said last month that there would be no changes to the team’s broadcast lineup.

“We as the organization were really happy with the broadcast team we had last year,” Schiller told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution in mid-January.

Sources familiar with the situation said the decision was made in December, and some in the Braves organization were informed at that time, although Wingert wasn’t told until later. Wingert declined to comment.
