Here's another element to poor 3 point defense - we start 3 true forwards, 6'6 Days, 6'6 Williams, 6'9 Watford. None of them have any business guarding a guard who can dribble drive or shoot the 3, yet we get into that situation a lot because a ton of teams basically play 3 guard lineups and we dont. Not to mention Smart is simply not adept to defending well at the arc either. So, we many many time have 4 guys on the floor who arent necessarily guys you want defending the arc.
The heavy forward lineup gives us advantages on the offensive end though. So give and take some there.
Taylor plays starters minutes. So often times LSU does have 3 guards on the court. Michigan St. is one of the better teams at defending the 3. They often have 3 Forwards 6'6 and up on the floor. UK often plays 3 forwards - 6'9, 6'10, 6'11. They are #12 at defending the 3.
Now, no one is saying LSU has to be that good. But shite, it's not like Days, Williams and Watford are unathletic stiffs. While you could say it might be more ideal to have several guards chasing 3 point shooters all around (like Arkansas does), there's no reason for LSU to be THIS bad at defending the 3 other than they simply put no emphasis on that aspect.

Guys are looking at the wrong stats as to why we lost the game. We were out rebounded by ten.
We have had a big advantage in most games this season.
Auburn was taller and more physical on the boards. They had twice as many offensive rebounds. When Days fouled out it was devastating.
Wade has five keys to victory.
Rebounding and free throws are two keys.
