I love TGBFTL. I always have.
And I love the songs that Castro Carrazo and Huey Long wrote in the 1930s - The Alma Mater, Touchdown For LSU, Fight For LSU, etc. I actually sing the LSU Alma Mater at Tiger games.
I also love Hey Fighting Tigers, adapted from "Hey Look Me Over," a song in the 1958 Broadway play "Wildcat."
I love Tiger Rag, the song that used to be played after every LSU touchdown.
What is monumentally puzzling to me is how a small sampling of the student body and a small sampling of sidewalk/tee-shirt/bandwagon fans are ALLOWED to literally DECIDE what a multi-billion dollar University and its Athletic Dept. and Band can play and perform IN THEIR OWN STADIUM on fall Saturdays.

I am not against cursing and using curse words and acting childish and foolish and showing off........WITH THE GUYS IN A LIVING ROOM.
But not in front of millions of people, and only to see if 'they can get away with it,' and to 'watch the expressions on their faces,' and to 'show off in front of their friends,' because 'they're in college, they can do whatever they want,' or 'just to hear themselves.'

And they do this.......WILLINGLY. They couldn't care less how it affects the alumni, the other students, the other fans at the game, the VISITING fans, the media, the boosters and alumni groups, millions of people watching on television.

They WILLINGLY trash their OWN University, they trash their OWN state, and despite their objections, they trash...

THEMSELVES.

It is astonishingly stupid. And it denies the other 95,000 or so people in attendance for an LSU game, some for their FIRST VISIT to "Death Valley at Night."
And THIS is how you want yourselves to be remembered. How you want your school to be remembered.

To me, you'e worse than Alabama fans, which is saying something, because I HATE everything Alabama.

And sometimes I end up having to defend the normal sane part of the LSU student body and fans, which gets so old. Because they have nothing to do with me. Sad.
I also get exceedingly embarrassed when I see kids asking their parents - "what does that mean?, what are the saying?"

Too harsh? You know what you can do....use the acronym.
And no, I'm not an 'old fart.' I'm an alumnus (that's ALUMNUS, not alumni.)

Grow up.
