Kids should play in their zone or sit out a year this should be for private or public

I see the downvotes l. I would like to know why a kid should be able to play out of zone the first year at a school.

that isn’t the issue. The issue is that the first year in some schools is 8th grade or before, when no one makes varsity anyway. Make kids sit out 9th grade if they’re out of zone

A kid has been going to a private school since kindergarten. Let’s say living in Port Allen but always went to St John. Now that kid can’t play as a freshman.

That not fair in any sense to the kid

Because the attendance zones for private schools are complete LHSAA fabrications. They have no correlation with the population that actually attend that school.

This rule will also apply magnets, charters, etc. If your kid gets into a magnet based on academic performance, he/she will most likely be punished by not being eligible for a year.

It is going kill JV teams (especially in girls sports) at a lot of places.
