Track speed does not directly translate to football speed. Running a WR route isn't a foot race.

However, someone who cannot run fast on the track is unlikely to be dangerously fast on the football field, just because most WRs and CBs are both sprinters and leapers, at least to a degree, so you're "screened in" to track and field, almost by default.

The differences are - you're not running in a straight line, either running routes or in coverage, and you're wearing cleats and armor.
