It’s not that bad. They roost in the fields and filter to the timber, and we hunt them there. Some leave the property, and get shot. We only hunt roosting/rest areas at the end of the season. If we weren’t holding ducks like we do, a lot of others wouldn’t see the birds they kill. Surrounding properties have even thanked us several times.
Not long, the timber takes about 50 hours. The rice already is halfway flooded bc we don’t drop the water from the growing season. The corn fields take about 24-30 hours. We don’t pump everything up all the way. We go about 80% then let the rain finish it off. The owner loves hunting and people having a good time. Specially kids, when they are having a blast, so is he. He as looked at me when kids were smoking ducks and said, “ It’s worth it.”
