Read babywise. It teaches you how to help the baby learn to fall asleep independently and keep baby on a schedule. This is crucial for baby being able to sleep long stretches without you having to put them back to sleep every time they wake up. Worked like a charm for my first baby, and my 17 week old just gave us back to back nights of 12 hours of sleep. I know it can change any minute (and im probably jinxing myself) but damn, it’s nice.
If your baby hates to be swaddled, try the “love to dream” swaddle. It keeps them snuggled up tight but allows their hands to be by their face. My son hated the swaddle and slept better when he could keep his arms by his head. At 12 weeks we put him in a sleep sack called a zipadee zip.
Take a ton of pics. Be patient with your wife. Postpartum hormones are insane and you’ll both be sleep deprived. But she will return to normal one day
