It’s interesting when you visit Europe and they don’t expect any tip and how gracious and grateful they are when you give them one.

My place only takes cash and checks. When I started going a cut was $22. I took a $20 and a $10 with me. A few years and they upped the price to $24. I still gave $30. Now the price is $28 so I bring an extra $5. So they’ve gone from an $8 tip to a $6 tip to a $7 tip. Around the holidays I give them $40.

I left a tip at a restaurant in Rome and they insisted I have a free shot of their house liquor before I left.
