I am planning one for my work right now and will more than likely be hosting it. A few thoughts:

- What is the purpose? Who is the audience? Are you going to have a topic area to focus on?
- Where are you going to host (cloud) the podcast? What is monthly subscription fees for that?
- How long will each episode be and who will edit the podcast once it is recorded?
- How will you get it onto sites like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.
- How will you market the podcast?

I put together a project scope document and WBS just for our first episode and it’s already looking like 50 man hours and thats before we have even done the first storyboard yet.

TL:DR - It is a lot harder than you think.

If I did one it would be "sports and entertainment". My audience would be sports fans, but in between sports, it would be about current events (no political talk), etc.

But I also thought it would be cool to do one in which each episode would be with someone who works in a certain industry. An investigator, head of parks & rec, HS football HC, etc, etc, etc

Personally, I'd want each episode to be 30-40mins. There are podcast I have interest in, but then you see episodes that are 1hr 30 mins, close to two hours and thats too long to get invested in.
