I do the same with the supplies I want and just try to wait out for a deal at some point. This summer I plan on re-arranging my tool room to free up a large shelf so I can expand. My light source is definitely not strong enough so I will be looking to upgrade when I have the room.
The fixture pillage mentioned seems like a perfect fit for the shelf I want to free up...weird!

The one above is what I bought and I did the same. At one point it got down to $73 and I pulled the trigger on it.
