Story behind my 1959 calendar - 60 years after the last LSU Heisman winner

Joe Burrow has been the Heisman front runner for weeks now but in my opinion, last nights play where he avoided two sacks, rolled out to the right and found Justin Jefferson for a 71 yard play was his Heisman moment. It reminded me of Billy Cannon's Heisman moment we've seen over and over again - the punt return from Oct 31st 1959. A few weeks later he hoisted the Heisman trophy. The trophy is about to go to the next LSU player exactly 60 years later.
I've posted a picture of this before but allow me to tell the backstory...my grandfather was a HUGE fan of LSU football. He passed away in 2009 and a few days later, I was in his closet going through some things and found a cardboard tube in the corner. I opened it up and pulled out a 1959 LSU calendar of the 1958 NC team in pristine condition. The White Team, the Go Team and Chinese Bandits are all pictured along with Dietzel and his coaching staff. It's the type where you pulled off the months as they ended. I don't know for sure but I want to believe he saw Cannon's run, realized it was a special moment, the next day he pulled the month of October off and decided to put it in the tube. Obviously, I don't know that for sure but it's cool to think about.
I framed the calendar under UV protected glass and its hanging in my office. Just thought I'd share it in the midst of this special year. Hope he was able to see last night's game. Looking forward to watching the rest of this year!

Wonderful piece of memorabilia with a great story! This season makes it even more special with the similarities. Thanks for sharing! Also, your grandparents were so kind and generous to all of us young Raiders!!

Love it! Kids today have no idea how legends are born. LSU held 60000, then but I swear ever person I’ve met ole miss or LSU fans around that age say they were there. Or remember exactly where they were. Joe catching his own pass and reacting the way he did showed he’s a baller,

This has to be, IMHO, the best piece of LSU memorabilia anyone can have hanging in their office or home. The Baseball World Series headlines are awesome, and the 2 previous National Championship headlines are awesome, but this takes it to a whole new level.
Congrats on the find. Definitely something to be passed down generation to generation.
