My first thought is wouldn't you get similar results in the past, even when more people became and stayed married?

No because slut shaming was a thing of the past, and women were not career focused in the past. If you weren't married by your mid 20s your town or society would think something was wrong with you.

It’s exactly those women who invented feminism. They couldn’t or wouldn’t settle down with a man, so it became men’s fault that no one would marry them. So they convinced themselves they didn’t really want what women want, they wanted to be men.

The next step was convincing women who would have been perfectly happy and fine with the old system to come and be miserable with them.

But the next generation of bitter feminists actually could get men, even though they were told (rightly) women should guard their bodies and sex, lest you become a single mom. They didn’t like that, so they convinced themselves and then everyone else slutting it up was fine; single motherhood was to be championed.

Now they have convinced a whole generation of women to be sluts in their youth and bitter miserable bag ladies in middle age. The only thing left is to blame men.
