No, it did not. From the very beginning you knew that Vesper was attracted to Bond and that she was playing hard-to-get. This is all too obvious when she says to Bond:
Vesper: "I will be keeping my eye on our government's money and off of your perfectly formed arse."
Bond: "You noticed?"
Vesper: "Even accountants have imagination!"
