I just got back from going last week. One of the days we were there was their busiest of the year so far. Magic Kingdom was the only place that felt really crowded. As someone else said, Epcot hardly felt crowded at all and I had no problem doing everything I wanted there. Animal Kingdom had some long lines (Avatar) but if you plan your fast passes right it isn't bad.

Overall, for being a busy time of year, I thought the crowd level wasn't too bad.

Note: We don't go often at all (my last time was in the 90s) so I don't have much to compare it with.

What a lot of people don't realize is that crowds in December at WDW are extremely date specific.

First two weeks of December aren't too bad save for an occasional event they have going on (such as crowds during day at MK if there is a Christmas party that night).

From about the 15th until Christmas Day, there is a good crowd, but plenty manageable.

The check-in on the 26th is insane. The in-park crowds get exponentially worse until the 31st. The first backs down a little bit, but still crowded.

On the second, it's empty, and on the third, they start doing ride refurbishments. That's how quickly the crowd changes.
