My .270 has a Leupold FX-3 at 6x42 on it and I've killed deer past your distance with it. It's remarkably clear and has a very wide FOV. On a 7-08 it would be a dandy.

I know I can but clarity isnt my issue. Being more precise with impact location at 150+ yards is what I'm trying to accomplish.
I have a Nikon prostaff 3x9x50. It's clear enough for my needs. Its not $1200 scope clear but Ive never had and issue.
