For your Avatar all you have to do is host the pic you like from an imgur account and use the small square option at the bottom and it should make it small enough for you to upload to your profile.

Thanks Georgia. I thought I had tried that. I uploaded the image, clicked small square and copied the link, but no success. Maybe I wasn't holding my mouth right? I dunno.
-- edit -- holding my mouth right seemed to work. Clicking on small square did nothing, but when I manually changed the size to 80x80, it worked. Now for the sig pic.
