Looking for a decent media player to play movies off of an external hard drive. TIA

Budget? 4k? I'm assuming you need a device with a USB port.
Walmart.com has the Mi Box S for $40. It's an Android TV device that's sanctioned by Google. It has the Google assistant, a Chromecast Ultra embedded and uses the same user interface as the Nvidia Shield. Load the Kodi app and you're ready to go. I haven't used it for 4k media.
Others: Roku Ultra - $99, Nvidia Shield Pro - $199.
Mini PC's running Windows 10 or Linux: $200 - $350.

Looking for a deal on one of these. We watch videos on miomio.tv and fc2, as well as kodi.
What would be a good cheap device for that?
