The decline started somewhere late in the 80s. Maybe mid 80s. Energy industry issues, gangs, etc. I remember going shopping with parents at Rubenstien's downtown Shreveport, but by the late 80s those businesses had waned.

Malls replaced the standalone stores, gangs replaced the oil industry people.
