He didn't really. The cuts to various incentive programs that Jindal and Republican and Black Caucus legislators enacted in 2015 coupled with the windfall revenue generated by the Federal tax cut and increasing oil prices got us out of the budget deficit cycle.

All Edwards did was pile on a train wreck Medicaid expansion (BTW go check out the LDH General Fund Allocation since JBE took office) and raised needless taxes. His tax increases disproportionately effect the working poor, and were completely unnecessary as our government is now working with a $500 million surplus.

This Fiscal Note for his 2017 tax increase was 445 Million. So we had a budget surplus despite his Medicaid expansion before his latest tax increase. He just wanted more of your money.

I hate that the truth is so nuanced and complicated. With a press that doesn't want to tell that story, virtually no one knows this.
