Ed was a previous failure. About to be fired. He had to throw a hail Mary. He was running out of people to point his fingers at. Landed Brady and saved his arse.

O had success at USC as a HC before he came to LSU. He had success at LSU before he got Brady. Now, he is having spectacular success. Yes, he failed as HC at Ole Miss, but you are ignoring everything else after that.

Went find a kicker, went find a QB, killing recruiting, has been working to improve the offense since he got the job, won 10 games when most predicted 7 win season.
