How does the default shutoff work with your AC. Say you are in dead stop or 1 to 2 minute stop traffic during the dog days of summer. Does it somehow keep the AC cooling?
This has to be a drain on your starter and battery..

I've only ever had one car that did it, and it wouldn't do the turnoff thing if it was over (or under) a certain temperature.

My truck has this feature. There are sensors in the vehicle and it starts back up if the temperature in the cab goes up 2 or 3 degrees. I find myself turning it off or letting off the brake a little during the summer.
Supposedly they don't use a regular starter. It's designed for the auto start stop feature.

I will not buy another car that doesn't have defeatable auto start/stop.
My tahoe and buick don't have it buy my malibu does.
IF you're running A/C and the blower is above a certain speed the engine usually just stays lit.
And this crap about "beefed up" starter motors you know has to be bullshite. No way in hell would they spend the extra money to make it more durable.
