My son has a 7mm-08 and he is deadly with it. I've hunted with a 7mm Rem Mag for a long time, but have gotten a little tired of the recoil (especially when shooting at paper). So, I bought a Tikka 25-06 when they were on sale. I've shot a box through it at paper so far. That thing has almost no recoil. To me it might even have less recoil that the 7mm-08.
However I think the 7mm-08 is hands down the best youth rifle (and adult) made. I will always steer someone towards that round over a .243 (which I grew up shooting and love). Might be the best round on the market.
