I finally watched the second debate last night. Rispone will be an unmitigated disaster. He kept talking about “how we don’t know where the money is going. You need a businessman to get in there and figure it out and prioritize.” The budget is a public record that’s gone over every year. It’s on the internet and you can watch the debate on television. You’re running for Governor and are saying you can find money and will prioritize things but can’t take the time to look at the damn budget or appropriation bill?! And you can’t say what will be “prioritized”?
This guy has no plan and no clue of what’s going on

People who understand how the state works know that there is little transparency in state government and there’s only so much you can glean from reading a budget, or even an audit.

Both Abraham and Rispone to their credit have stated they will cut spending that’s not necessary. They talk in generalities because specifics would be used against them and would be so much minutia to the voter that it wouldn’t matter.

It’s about trust.

Do you want JBE who said he wouldn’t raise taxes only to pull a Louis Renault and feign surprise when he learned he needed two Billion more dollars to balance his budget so he raised taxes?

Or

Abraham who has an impressive career, s conservative who is a relative novice in politics, who has businesses but who has only short stints as an administrator?

Or
Rispone who made his mark by starting as a hand and who now owns and runs a business with over 3500 employees, but who has no public record?

They talk in generalities because they want the vote. Republicans have had a majority and don’t cut programs when people come in and cry at committee meetings. Neither will Abraham or Rispone. Rispone has no clue what he is doing. To Abraham’s credit, he’s saying he will dismantle DOTD, although I’m not sure what his plan is to do without it. But it’s at least something.

And there’s only so much to cut. What’s it gonna be Ed, healthcare or higher ed? Jindal already spent the rainy day fund, sold non-essential state property and contracted out state jobs. There’s not much meat on this bone to cut.

I just don’t like the dishonesty when they can’t be specific in what they plan to cut so they can build all these roads and early education centers.
