Again, this simply isn’t true. Infantry divisions fighting in Europe suffered higher casualty rates than those of either the Marines or Army in the Pacific. As I pointed out earlier, if the division that suffered the highest casualties in the Pacific (1st Marine Div) had suffered the same number of casualties in Europe, it would have ranked 8th or 9th on the list of divisions with the most casualties, just behind a National Guard Division, I believe the 35th Infantry if memory serves me correctly.
Infantry Divisions in Europe in general stayed in combat longer and suffered higher casualty rates than Marine or Army divisions in the Pacific.

This. In the PTO, after an island was secured, the landing unit was replaced and sent off for a little R&R until the next time. Not like a constant march, pretty much, across Europe.
