Army. Without a doubt. I'd want to be assigned to the European Theater where I'd have a fair chance to kill some nazi sons of britches. I'd want to ruin a whole bunch of Nazi Mama's days. Assuming, of course, they didn't kill me first and ruin MY mama's day.
The Pacific Theater? The Marines did a damn fine job with that. By all accounts that was hell. Major respect to the Marines.

You were more likely to die as an infantryman in Europe than if you were either Army or Marine infantry in the Pacific.
