I'm in this boat for sure. I have three kids. I don't have time for that crap.

I can see this argument and I'm in the same boat. But you can understand the other side where you can spend $60 on a game like Assassin's Creed Odyssey and even though I don't have the time to marathon it, I know it's going to give me a ton of game time over a few months and I'll feel it's money well spent (regardless that I got it on sale), but then how do I feel about spending that same amount of money on a game that will only last me a fraction of that, which I can still enjoy, but I'm more relectant to pay full price for a game like that.

I'm still hot that I paid $15 for Gone Home........so you understand where I'm coming from.

I get it. It's hard for me to justify $60 on pretty much any game really. In an either/or scenario, I would definitely opt for a game I know will take longer to complete. I'm just a little tired of every single game having to be an open world monstrosity.

That's fair. That game was not good. I was happy to get it for free just for a few achievements, but I wouldn't have spent a dime on it.

Even though I don't mind paying 60 for a smaller game, I do make sure to buy physical not digital.

I'll go digital for a Switch game that I'll play for a long time (Mario Kart, Mario Maker 2, even the new Fire Emblem), but with this I'll play it once (maybe twice) and then get 30 dollars of store credit for it at gamestop (unless I just want to keep it). The one benefit to Nintendo's complete pricing inflexibility is they retain trade in value.

I don't have anything against long games in general, but it's gotten to the point that you have to be strategic when choosing which ones to play. There are so many of them. I put 20 hours into Odyssey and liked it enough that I've thought about going back, but it's a legit commitment.
