Dumb question but I’ll be down in a month. Is shrimp/crabs etc... still in season?
Sometimes in the middle of October the water temp drops in the marsh behind a cold front. I am not sure exactly what the magic marsh water temp is. But a cool front and a north wind will basically send a signal to all the white shrimp to vacate the marsh. And the shrimpers just anchor up in the passes and set their nets into the falling tide. And they can literally overflow their shrimp holds in just a few hours.
And when this happens the processors can't handle all the shrimp that comes in at one time. You can go down there and buy all the beautiful 16-20 count shrimp you want for $2 a pound from the back of the boat.
It is a GREAT time to be in the marsh.
