At least Sotamayor was a judge.
I’m still pissed about Elana Kagan. She was a law school dean. Administration of a law school is different than academic at one.

Kagan was also Solicitor General, which is a pretty damn big position in DOJ and with the Court.

Kagan was exponentially more qualified to serve on the Supreme Court than Sotomayor.
There is no prerequisite that one needs to be an Appellate Judge prior to sitting in the Supreme Court.
Sotomayor is probably the least competent Justice is SCOTUS history.
